Blasting damage
The blasting media used in mechanical cleaning equipment is typically harder than the casting. The surface of the casting can be deformed or eroded by extended blasting time or excessive blasting energy.
Area | Possible Cause | Potential Correction |
---|---|---|
Other | The casting are too hot during blasting |
Allow parts to cool prior to blasting |
Other | Castings are stopped in front of the blasting nozzle or wheel |
Insure the parts are constantly moving during the blasting cycle. Check the mill or spinners tocon firm movement during the blast cycle |
Other | Blast time is too long |
Reduce blast time |
Other | Blast media is too large |
Reduce blast media size |
Other | Blast media is too hard |
Use softer blast media |
